Tim Starks

Tim Starks is pleased to join the Olathe Northwest Raven Pride Band program as the Assistant Band Director. Tim began working for the Olathe School District in 2007, and from 2009-2011, he taught elementary band students at many schools including Manchester Park, Meadow Lane, Ravenwood, Ridgeview, Scarborough, Sunnyside, and Woodland Elementary schools . Additionally, Tim assisted the PRT bands during this time. Mr. Starks will continue to teach 5th grade band at Manchester Park, Meadow Lane, and Ravenwood.

From 2007-2009, Tim served as a Student Development Specialist, working with 6-12 grade students in leadership and development programs including Olathe Youth Court, Olathe Youth Congress, and Assets to Build Leaders and Entrepreneurs (ABLE).

Previously, Tim served as the head director at three Kansas school districts, teaching 5-12 band in Nickerson, 9-12 band and orchestra at Washington High School in Kansas City, and 6-12 band in Bonner Springs. In addition to Marching, Concert, Jazz, and Pep bands, Mr. Starks worked to create and offer new courses such as World Percussion and Music Appreciation to increase music education opportunities.

Tim received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kansas State University. As a percussionist, Tim participated in several KSU performance groups including serving as the drum line section leader for the Marching Band, Principal player in the Symphony Band, and was an active member of the Percussion Ensemble. Tim received many honors at KSU, including the Symphony Band Award, the Outstanding Bandsman Award; the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society Junior class award, the Outstanding Graduating Senior award, and was inducted as a member of the national music honor society, Pi Kappa Lambda.
